Best Deer Hunting Blinds

Deer blinds are one of the most important aspects when hunting. Every hunter knows that you must stay concealed in order to make your next big kill whether it’s a huge deer or a pair of mallard ducks. You don’t want to lose a chance at that monster buck, do you? In this article, we’re going to discuss some of the best deer blinds of 2022.

Using a hunting blind increases your overall chances of staying hidden and concealed from deer, ducks, coyote and turkey. The different types of deer blinds can help you stay covered from all the prey. Some hunting blinds even cover up human scent to conceal your bodily scent from deer, who have a great sense of smell.

There are many different types of hunting blinds depending on the different prey and the terrain or location you will be hunting. Most hunting blinds are camouflaged patterned, which allows you to blend in with the trees and forest. Some hunting blinds look like a bale of hay so that you can hunt from the middle of a field without being noticed. To the deer, it looks like a typical bale of hay.

Ameristep Care Taker Hub Blind

Ameristep Care Taker Ground Blind, Mossy Oak Break Up Country, Model: None

Best Overall

This is one of the most popular deer blinds consistently year after year, the Ameristep Care Taker in Realtree Camo continues to impress with its performance. With this hunting blind, you are getting the best bang for your buck. I would consider this a beginner hunting blind. It keeps you dry on a wet, rainy day and protects you from the harsh outdoor elements such as wind, snow and rain. Keep yourself protected from insects and other bugs as well.

It contains three different windows on each side that are covered with shoot-through replaceable mesh. Shooting through the mesh with a gun or bow doesn’t affect your shot. Carrying it in and out of the woods isn’t a problem with its lightweight 16 lbs size. It’s 66 inches tall and 69 inches wide. Two adults can sit comfortably inside along with two chairs and hunting gear. Easy setup and take down and the light weight of the Ameristep Care Taker is one of the best reasons to use this blind for hunting. This blind can be used both for deer hunting or as a turkey hunting blind.

“Great blind, great price! Much bigger than expected with plenty of room. This blind provides hunters with the best bang for the buck.”

Pros

  • Super lightweight at 16 lbs.
  • Easy and portable
  • Shoot through mesh
  • Keeps you dry on rainy day

Cons

  • Can get crowded with 3 adults.
  • Standing isn’t an option if you’re over 5’6″.

Barronett Big Cat 350 Hub Deer Blind

Barronett Blinds Big Cat 350 Camo Deer Lightweight 3 Person Hunting Blind

Best For Groups

At 80″ tall from top to bottom in the center of this blind and 90″ from side to side, this blind is HUGE! If you have been looking for a new hunting blind that is very durable but want to spend a few extra dollars to make sure it’s well spent, the Big Cat 350 is perfect for you. When you are in this blind, it feels spacey, meaning you have a lot of room to move around, get ready for a shot or look through your binoculars.

Two adults + 1 kid could fit easily in this blind. In a lot of blinds, you have trouble maneuvering around. Not this one! I recommend this blind for anyone wanting a lot of room. The Big Cat 350 is well built and water resistant. It might be a bit bulky, but taking it to the woods with its 19 lbs weight isn’t too terrible. It’s definitely worth the money for such a huge blind and I would personally recommend this blind. Setup is super quick and easy and can be done within a matter of minutes. Shoot through mesh allows you to take a shot without removing the mesh with both a bow or rifle. Big windows are on all sides giving you a complete 360-degree view.

“Very nice and roomy blind. Worked well for my 6′ 3″ father in law. Highly recommended.”

  • HUGE! Lots of room
  • Water resistant

Rhino Blinds R75 Hunting Blind

Rhino Blinds R75-RTE 2 Person Hunting Ground Blind, Realtree Edge

Made out of 100% polyester, the Rhino Blinds R75 is  the perfect beginner hunting blind  and a great choice for younger hunters. It contains shoot-through mesh windows much like many other blinds, but  these windows are a bit low, especially if you’re tall.

The camo pattern looks great in Realtree Edge to blend right in with the trees and woods. The blind is 66″ tall and 60″ wide.  It’s slightly small but very lightweight at only 11lbs.  You can carry this blind like a backpack to the woods, but just need to watch out if you plan on winter hunting in the snow as the weather resistance would need some backup.

“Well built. Easy to set up and durable. Would recommend this blind and would buy again.”

Pros

  • Only 11 pounds
  • Easy setup and take down
  • Great price

Cons

  • If you’re 6′ of more, this is not a two person blind
  • Needs additional anchoring if it’s going to be windy
  • Shooting windows are a bit low

Ameristep Deluxe Chair Blind

Ameristep Deluxe Tent Chair Blind | 2-Person Hunting Blind in Mossy Oak Break-Up Country, One Size

Best Chair Blind

This hunting blind made by Ameristep boasts a large open window right up front.  You can see from nearly every angle. No more lugging a folding chair around! The Deluxe Two Person blind includes a chair already built into the blind with a cup holder and armrest. The blind can fit two adults comfortably and provides each hunter plenty of room to shoot from the large open window.

With this blind, you don’t have to worry about replacing any shoot-through mesh. It measures 61″ wide and 60″ high, giving you just enough room to maneuver your rifle or crossbow. Check out our full review of the Ameristep Deluxe Two Person Blind.

“Dead simple setup and takedown.”

Pros

  • Super light at 16 lbs., portable & easy to carry
  • Chair is attached to blind already
  • Holds two adults comfortably
  • Comes with cup holder & arm rest

Cons

  • Two can be a squeeze if you’re both larger hunters
  • Not a good option for bow hunting
  • Not a great choice for rainy weather
  • Can make noise when windy

Ghostblind 6-Panel Runner Blind

Ghostblind 6-Panel Runner Blind

Best For Mobile Hunts

If you are one of the hunters that like to keep moving around and not staying in one location, then this is the blind for you. The Ghostblind is a new type of blind using a mirrored reflection of the surrounding areas to make you blend in wherever you are. You will be sitting directly on the ground with this blind, so if you are a mobile hunter and can’t stay in the same tree stand or blind, then the Ghostblind is for you.

It’s great for both deer and turkey hunting and can be used with both a rifle, shotgun or crossbow. Turkey hunters will love this blind: lightweight, 8 lbs, portable, weather resistant and it sets up in seconds. You can carry this blind easily with straps or backpack vest. Once you are in your hunting spot, unfold the 6-panel blind and stake it in the ground and you are good to go! Check out our full review of the GhostBlind 6-Panel Runner Blind.

“I’m a turkey hunter & this blind makes it easy to pack and be mobile while hunting turkey. It hides me well and sets up in only seconds to allow me to get ready for a shot quick!”

Pros

  • Incredibly light at 8 lbs
  • Very portable
  • Perfect for hunters on the go
  • Reflects very clear realistic image

Cons

  • Too short to use with a chair
  • Not a good option for bow hunters

Primos Double Bull Deluxe Ground Hunting Blind

Primos Double Bull Deluxe Ground Blind, Truth Camo

Best XL Blind

A whopping 77″ from hub to hub gives you plenty of room to move around. You can have a party in this blind! It’s huge! This is the ultimate blind to use for hunting anything imaginable season after season. The floor space is 60″ x 60″ to give you a lot of room for all your hunting gear, bow, guns, decoys and more. This is a hunting blind that will last for years. This blind was constructed very well and is considered one of the best-selling and most durable blinds year after year.

The quality of this Primos blind is amazing. It’s built solid and can withstand the abuse that hunters give their equipment. This blind lasts a long time and is considered one of my personal favorites. I’ve bought only two of these blinds over the last 10 years. It is built with some of the best material than any other hunting blind that I’ve been around. This blind is my favorite and one that I would highly recommend for hunters.

Check out our full review of the Primos Double Bull Deluxe Ground Hunting Blind.

“This is hands down the best hunting blind on the market! I’ve purchased my 4th one!”

Pros

  • Easy entry and exit
  • Lots of room
  • Huge blind!
  • 360 visibility

Cons

  • Stake straps not easy to work with
  • Bag isn’t the greatest

Ameristep Bone Collector Hunting Blind

Ameristep Bone Collector Blind

The Bone Collector hunting blind isn’t much different than a lot of the other Ameristep blinds. Its big selling point is the large 75″ shooting width and the 10 shoot through mesh windows. Like most shoot through mesh, these are replaceable and easy to install. At 67″ tall, there is plenty of room to stand or get your gear set up to take the perfect shot. This is one of the few hunting blinds using the NS3 carbon fabric which gives it long-lasting durability and reduces the noise.

Human scent is a huge factor in deer hunting. Deer have a very good sense of smell and human scent can spook them easily. Don’t lose that huge buck because your scent is everywhere. The NS3 carbon fabric reduces human scent. The NS3 fabric along with the large size make this a great selling point for this blind. Check out our full review of the Ameristep Bone Collector blind.

“Would buy again without hestitation”

Pros

  • Shoot through mesh openings
  • Real tree camo pattern
  • Bone collector logo
  • Fabric reduces human scent

Cons

  • Only holds two people
  • Anchor lines are weak

This concludes my list of the best deer blinds for 2022. I have given thorough insight into each blind and listed pros and cons of each hunting blind. Again, having a blind to conceal yourself during the hunting season is important and crucial to your hunt. Deer, duck, turkey and coyote are all pretty smart animals and can see, hear and smell you. A hunting blind helps eliminate those senses to a certain degree.

  1. Have two of the Ameristep blinds and they are amazing. We take those suckers out to the fields and woods all the time. No tears or rips in them after three years and still going strong. They build some high quality blinds. Not sure of the actual material but it’s quite strong. I killed a coyote out of one of mine before during turkey season. Coyote came up scared away my birds and I blew right through the shoot through mesh to blast a hole in him. Called Ameristep and they sent me a replacement mesh. Easy! Buy Ameristep!

  2. The Ghostblind really shouldn’t be on this list in my opinion. It is portable but it doesn’t give a natural feel. I have heard good things about the Primos and I personally like the Big Cat 350 for deer and turkey. It’s my go-to blind when I turkey hunt, deer hunt, coyote hunt or whatever. Good list of hunting blinds but I would go with the Big Cat 350 for all around hunting.

  3. I have the Ghostblind and I found it to be a great choice for me. It’s so portable and easy to carry for when I have to walk a long way to get to my hunting spot. This one doesn’t require a lot of assembly, either, so I can easily pack it and set it up within seconds. I would definitely recommend to anyone who has to walk a decent distance and doesn’t want to have to carry a bulky blind around.

    • All these blinds have pros and cons. It all depends on what your wants and needs are. The Ghostblind is super light and portable. It looks really neat. I think the Ameristep Caretaker would be a good turkey hunting blind as well for the price.

    • Hi Seth,

It all depends on the type of tree you are looking for. Are you looking for a pattern that looks like a tree & leaves? If so, then any of the above should be a fit for you. But if you are looking to find a hunting blind that looks like a tree trunk, it gets a bit pricey.

  4. This post was helpful and I appreciate the pros and cons of each hunting blind. I chose the Big Cat 350 for my husband and it appears to hold up a long life. Sounds to be very sturdy and durable according to the reviews.

  5. Very good round up of the best hunting blinds this year. I would strongly suggest the Caretaker for the lower price tag but good brand. There’s also one called Redneck blinds that are pretty nice.

  6. As a long time hunter, I would recommend Ameristep blinds. They are decently priced for a decent quality blind. You’re going to want to buy a new blind anyway every 5 years at least. I would buy the Caretaker and be done with it. I got the hunting blind for under $100 on Amazon.

  7. We have the Big Cat 350 and it is a great blind. We hunted with it last season and very pleased with the design and how easy it was to set up. You can easily put the accessories inside the blind. Pros: Designed really well and durable. Cons: NONE!

  8. I’ve been hunting for years and years and have used all types of blinds from cheap to expensive. For me, the Ameristep Caretaker is what I use regularly. The price point and ease of use is why I purchased it. I read all the reviews on this site before purchasing earlier this year. I bought it less than $100. It has lasted through wind and rain ???? this year while allowing me to fill both of my Mississippi deer tags. If you were like me and looking for a deer blind for a cheaper price point then I recommend the Caretaker. If anything goes wrong with this blind for any reason then Ameristep has amazing customer service and will get you take care of.

  9. We decided to purchase the Ameristep Caretaker before deer hunting season due to the awesome reviews the blind had. I’m a veteran hunter and haven’t used this blind before this year and was somewhat impressed with it. For the price point of buying a hunting blind under $100, it has proven very durable and lasted us through December. I usually buy a new blind to use every year. I like this blind and would give it a thumbs up 5 stars!

  10. The Ameristep Caretaker has been a great blind for us to have over the last few years. Found out this year they are no longer making it anymore so it will be discontinued and probably marked down on the price, which means you can prolly get it for a steal. My father was going to buy a Caretaker but they were sold out at our local store so he read the reviews on Amazon and decided on the Big Cat. He likes to take the grandchildren with him and it gives him plenty room for them to move around. Most of the reviews on here are for the caretaker and I can understand why. But you should really consider the big cat for its durability and not too bad of a price point.

  11. I want to go ahead and say that I purchased the Big Cat 350. Here’s my reasons why:

The blind is the most well constructed blind I have ever seen and used. It’s durable and feels rock solid. Where I hunt, there is a whipping wind that comes around the other side of some trees and it hits me right in the face usually. The Big Cat continues to stand even in heavy winds. I’m also a tall guy about 6′ 2″ and like to stand when I shoot and to move around when my legs are feeling weak. The blind allows us big men (and women) to stand freely if needed. The material seems to be of very good quality and the sewing of the seams looks pretty darn great. Not for sure if made in the USA or not. Probably not. Final thoughts: sturdy construction, very large for 4 people, windows all sides and comfortable. Would recommend it. Thanks!

  12. Pops up in a jiffy. That is what I was wanting in a turkey blind. I don’t want to fool around for half an hour trying to get a freaking blind up. I just want to hunt. The caretaker let me actually hunt.

  13. So after reviewing your list and making our purchase, we decided on the Ameristep Caretaker. It was reasonably priced and has very good reviews. I took my dad out turkey hunting with me and this works perfect as a turkey blind. It fit us both comfortably along with our guns and two folding chairs. It’s a very lightweight hunting blind and easy to carry to the woods.

  14. Hey Trey. Picked up the Ameristep Care Taker on black friday. Just set it up in the back yard last night for the first time – it’s *plenty* comfortable for two people. The under-20-lb weight is nice too. Good call on naming it #1. Thanks!

  15. I’m 6’2″ so I went with the Big Cat based on your review. It was absolutely the right choice. Being able to stand in a blind without having to duck down is a great change vs what Im used to.
